War was?
With the deepest of my rheinish heart a happy "Alaaaf" to all the people out there in the nothern enclave. I'd nearly forgotten what day it was! Let the chessiness become the leading part of our life for the following days.
Movement
By the way I'm moving again and my piano is much smaller! :) Just in case anyone is keen on bringing some stuff from Kiel to Hamburg again, a little Starcar is already reserved for the 16th of February. Hm just kidding. But anyway I think I like this lady here. And that song's much nicer.
RCA Secrets revealed
While visiting a very good friend of mine, Susanne Ludwig, in London she told us about the RCA Secret Exhibition. Every year the Royal College of Art sells postcards. Some might be from famous artists as Damien Hirst or even young ambitous RCA students, but no one knows when purchasing. Only some time later the names will be revealed. And I hope of course that Sanne is going to be one day one of the famous ones. :)

Waiting pause
While waiting for some uploading megabytes I thought I could just spend some senseless time surfing around ... and I was already wondering the whole day why the heck is the google logo build out of lego bricks. Now I know...

Stile der Stadt
On Friday evening we stumbled coincidentally over a video art exhibition which can be highly recommended. Clemens-Schultz-Straße 85, Hamburg-St. Pauli. Alter Weinladen. From 25/1 - 1/2, every evening between 6-11pm.

Control
The best evenings are the spontaneous ones. I just came back from the cinema and I'm still a bit numb and captured by "control".

Clever templates for sale - Cheap, cheap!!!!
While surfin' the world wide web, usually a good website with heaps of inspiring links to great designed individual websites, I stumbled some minutes ago over another website which offers a wide range of business brochure templates. So "plofessional" (professional) - just insert your text and company logo and there your go! For a short moment it reminded me of the funny offer here but this time it was unfortunately meant to be real. And some days ago someone asked me "hey, as a designer, can you make money out of that and isn't it a little bit senseless what you are doing?" Well, if there will be some more of these offerings and if people can produce their own communication material I should better think about retraining myself. I would be a good shoe sales person by the way or I'd finally become a real artist. Whatever.

Sébastien Caillat, Histoire sans gravité
Just came back from the art museum in Kiel where a video collection exhibition is taking place. And what I liked was this surreal short film about a mother's and daughter's end of life in a skyscraqper in Paris, with moving house blocks in the rythm of the stock market fluctuations and inspired by a painting of Edvard Munch.

How to blow one's own trumpet
2008 is going to be the year of probably so many new things but definitely the year of the never ever saying again "I shouldn't have..." e.g.:
- come back
- started where I've been coming from
- thought I could handle this
And that's why we've developed the 2008 "blow your own trumpet"-set for special "blow your own trumpet"-days. :)
Thanks Frau Kollmann for the best present ever!
The Chinese and the Germans
Finally I had some time to read through an one month old "Brand Eins" in our kitchen. And I found the following article about Yang Liu, a graphic designer who has created a very great icon story about the differences between the German and Chinese culture. Nice stuff!
