Yesterday I bought a book. While looking for christmas presents I stumbled over a little book which was hidden somewhere in the bookstore. An Australian stamp on the second inside spread caught my attention so that I kept on reading. And the illustrations are so fantastic that I had to buy it. It contains 15 short stories about strange situations in the familiar suburban world. For example about the exchange student "Eric" or "the Water Buffalo", who hates talking, or about "no other country" where plastic christams trees melt in roof spaces. The book is made by Shaun Tan and has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body. And I like it. :)
